About SJA

The Student Justice Alliance empowers students to advocate for social justice and equal opportunities in their schools and communities. We fight against the systemic inequalities embedded in the American justice system, ensuring the pillars of justice support every person. Our mission is to challenge the status quo, promote fairness, and create lasting change.

Based in Maryland, the Student Justice Alliance is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to make the justice system more equitable for historically marginalized groups.

Through our Pages for Freedom initiative, we donate books to those incarcerated in detention centers and correctional facilities across Maryland, seeking to reduce recidivism rates, transform prisons into places of rehabilitation, and challenge the especially egregious conditions of Maryland’s prisons.

Through our Immigrant Justice Alliance initiative, we create legal guides and Know-Your-Rights guides translated in multiple languages for immigrants new to America. As part of our effort to break down the barriers around the justice system, the Immigrant Justice Alliance initiative targets language and cultural barriers that prevent immigrants from accessing equal justice.
